Sunrise Golfer

>> Tuesday, May 31, 2016

Hi Everyone,

The current challenge here on the blog is "Play Ball", so I'm back today with another golf themed card!  I hope you have a chance to "get inky" and join us!

My card started out with me sponging that green and yellow background scene, so that I could add the Silhouette Male Golfer in the foreground.  Unfortunately, after stamping him I swiped an inky finger across the beautiful golden sky and ended up with a big black smudge that couldn't be camouflaged.  So, after shaking my fist in the air and a holding a minor pity party, I fished it out of the trash and decided it was an opportunity for creativity.  I cut him down and matted him in black.  I then stamped the Par-fect Golf  Birthday Greeting, cutting it down and matting it as well.  To match it up with the image, I stamped it with the Splatter Background stamp in yellow and green ink.

I embossed a bright yellow background, but it seemed too plain when I was piecing the card together, so I made a piece of patterned paper using the cut apart Woven Plaid stamp, using the same yellow, green and orange inks. You can check out this great tutorial here, and see how it's done.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you at the challenge!

Strength and Dignity

Happy Memorial Day to those who live in the states. I hope you have had a great weekend and were able to take some time to show your gratitude to our military who sacrifice so much for us.

Today's card features a couple of new stamps. The sentiment is Proverbs 31:25 and would be perfect for Bible Journaling as well as card making. I stamped it with Versafine Onyx ink on white CS, die cut and layered it on another die cut in light green CS. The bottom of the card was die cut with a SB die and some clear rhinestones were added. A small strip of the light green CS was added inside the card so the color shows through when the card is closed. Polka dotted green ribbon was added behind the greeting. It looked a little blah to me so I started going through my stash of embellishments when I remembered this new Scroll corner tile. It was perfect for the corners of my card. They were stamped with Memento Black ink, the open spaces colored with a light green Copic to match and the card is complete. Hope you like it!

There's still time to join in this week's fun challenge here at DRS Designs. It's "Play Ball." You need to have something related to playing ball on your card. We'd love to have you join the fun.

Thanks for stopping by,

Hi all, today's card is for all the people in your life that love to fish.

I started with the yellow cardstock and cut a square from the center them I layered the teal paper behind and cut a smaller square.

The fishing pole was stamped on the yellow cardstock with the hook going over the edge.

On white I stamped the

I used the fishing pole to stamp the hook in the corner.

Then I used the Four Flower Background to add some color across the bottom.
Copic's were used to color everything.

The Jumping At The Chance was stamped onto white then the Four flower was stamped over the top. Using the Matting basic dies to cut it out and make a teal mat.

Have a wonderful day,

Greatest of These is Love

>> Saturday, May 28, 2016

Good morning!

I have some Bible journaling for you today.

 DRS new Bible Journaling stamps!
I used Momento Lux gray ink for 572E "Faith, Hope, Love" (new release) and Monento Lux Black for the Remember This 790B and the Arrow 807C.

I have to say that if you use that ink, make sure you heat set it before touching as it takes a bit of time to dry on it's own.  Nothing more maddening than smudging ink in your Bible!!  Thankfully, it erased pretty well too (not after heat setting though).
I wanted this journaling to be nice and bright because of the content!  This is the great LOVE chapter in the Bible (1 Corinthians 13).   I added some drawn sunrays on the bottom and the top to cover any lasting smudge marks, I like it!
I used colored pencils to color in the letters and I used Pan Pastels to add the pretty yellow focus color.  As you can see, this Bible was made for journaling, it has 2" margins with faint lines.  I got mine here at CBD.
If you are into highlighting verses and writing in your Bible, DRS Designs has some great new stamps to help you along!!!
Thanks for visiting today!

Happy Happy

Happy Friday!
And I hope you're planning a wonderful, long Memorial Day weekend. As I was looking at this fun new Happy Happy Day greeting, I'm thinking what can I add? I guess one more, great BIG happy! And a happy hot pink color. The concept was easy..but executing this split design took a little planning since I was using dies to cut everything. I first die cut the main white panel, then determined where to add (and split) the greeting. 2 lines above & 2 below looked about right, so I took the die and moved it up on the panel & cut off the bottom. I placed the bottom section in the die & cut off the top, removing the middle section. Then I die cut the hot pink layer & removed the inside, leaving just a frame for the white layers. I added a strip of the pink at the bottom of the top section & at the top of the bottom section then added the die cut HAPPY in between.
Before I attached to the card front, I stamped the greeting & added the Scroll Corner Tile images in the corners. I added just a hint of pink inside the scrolls & I used the Splatter Bg to stamp a strip behind the large Happy die cut.

Here's a look at the inside.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Bible Journaling with Umbrellas

>> Wednesday, May 25, 2016

The new DRS Designs Bible Journaling stamps are super great and help to make your pages look awecome.  I used the new Strength and Dignity Greeting on this Bible Journaling card.

I lead a Bible Journaling class at my church and last month we made wedding dresses out of doilies. They loved them! So for the next class we are gong to make dresses out of umbrellas.  I used the DRS Designs Umbrella image to make this dress.  I stamped the image 9 times and shaded them using a sponge and some Tim Holtz distress inks.  I then layerd up the umbrellas cutting sections off the top umbrella layers and using them to expand the bottom layers.  I sponged on a bit more ink and then added a few starfish from the 4-in-1 seashells image.  I then added a little gold lace to the top and sprayed the whole dress with some Fireworks spray.  For the base layer, I stamped the main greeting and then sponged around a chicken wire stencil.  It needed some more texture so I added some modeling paste on the stencil too.  To finish it off, I flicked some water colors in light brown and green.

I attached my card to my Bible page with some washi tape.  I plan to write prayers on the other side.

Many hugz!

Faith Hope Love

>> Tuesday, May 24, 2016

Hi Everyone,

I decided to make an inspirational card for my share today on the blog.  The beautiful
Faith Hope Love (872E) stamp was recently released, and it can do double duty for Bible journaling or as a sentiment on a card of encouragement.

I always think there's something soothing about a pink and blue sky, so I made my watercolor  background using blue, purple and pink ink.  Once it was dry,  I stamped some wispy grasses along the bottom using the Long Tall Wheat and Four Flower Background stamps.  I dyed a piece of seam binding and made a bow around the panel before attaching it to the card base and black layer.

The sentiment was stamped, colored with Copic markers to match and die cut.  I then covered it in heat and stick powder, so that I could coat the whole thing in transparent glitter.  Finally, it was adhered to the card using some dimensional foam tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a beautiful day :)

Faith, Hope, Love

>> Monday, May 23, 2016

Happy Monday! My card today features the new Faith, Hope, Love greeting (872E). I stamped it with Memento Black ink on white CS, colored it with Copics and die cut it along with some layers in blue and white. The large blue panel was embossed with a CB Damask folder and attached to the white card base. The silhouette boy praying was stamped with Versafine onyx ink and fussy cut and added with some foam dots for dimension. The small white ribbon was added to complete the look.
I like how this image looks. It would be great for Bible journal too.

Thanks for stopping by today.

In this close up You can read the greeting better.

Golfers Delight

>> Saturday, May 21, 2016

Good morning!
Here is another card to go along with the color challenge theme.

My frame is stamped with the new release Everything Golf square.  The Silhouette male golfer is 038G, and the inside golf gear is 950L Golf is...
I cut my frame out and stamped it using a stamp aligner.  I stamped the inside on white and die cut it then colored.  I masked the words and sponged the inside.  The silhouette was stamped in my Misti with VersaFine a couple times and cut out then edged with black so that you don't see any white edges.   The inside green is a little bit darker than the frame as I was trying to get 3 colors of green going here. The frame is popped up and the guy is popped up double.

Ok, I have a story to tell you about golf...When I was first married (year 1, 2 or 3) my husband bought me a set of golf clubs because he liked to play and we lived in the sub-division with 9 holes...I started crying!  He knew that I didn't like golf, get the picture?  So, he felt bad and told me to take it back to Sears (store, that was before the internet) and get what I wanted.  I came home with two backpacks and our life as we know it began!  My husband decided he didn't like golf much after all but I'll tell you what, he LOVES hiking!!  He always tells me what a good choice I made!!
We live in the Sierra National Forest near Yosemite so you know that we have gone hiking and backpacking and even horse packing in all those 33 years here.
I know there are a lot of golfers out there that think I'm crazy but hey, we are all different!!  Can you imagine if we all loved golf how much time you would stand around waiting for your turn???  LOL!!
Thanks for visiting today!

Peace Faith Hope Love

>> Friday, May 20, 2016

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well! My card today started with a Splitcoast challenge to have something "groovy" on your card. I figure this big ol' peace sign is about as groovy as it gets. Along w/ the sort of tie dye bg. It's one I had in my stash, just waiting for the perfect card. It was made by dropping a few drops of dye reinkers onto glossy c/s & blowing thru a straw to move them around. I stamped the Peace Sign on part of it, die cut it w/ circle die, then used a craft knife to cut out the centers. The peace word was also die cut from it.  So I'm thinking what goes w/ a peace sign besides the peace die cut? Well, Faith Hope & Love, of course! When I rec'd this new image, it had the edge of the rubber sheet line across the top. Now I know you're supposed to trim that off, but I thought it made a perfect line to put my peace die cut on, so I left it. I colored in the words (they're kind of groovy, too, w/ the big fat lettering) and die cut the panel & attached the peace & peace sign.
I added a black strip on the left & another tie dye strip on the right. Here's a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
Supplies:
paper: white, black, glossy white
ink: Memento tuxedo black, Versafine onyx, Kaleidacolor reinkers
accessories: Misti, Copic markers, Spellbinders A2 matting basics B, pierced rectangles & double stitched circles dies, Sizzix holiday thinlits dies
