Easter is God's Love

>> Sunday, March 31, 2013

Happy Easter, I hope everyone is having a blessed day with family and friends. For my card today I used the Easter Oval with Lily and the Easter is Gods Love Greeting. The image was colored with Copic markers and I cut it out with scissors and layered it onto a oval that was cut with a Spellbinder die. This was layered onto a white embossed card. a seam binding ribbon and bow was added to the bottom of the card and everything was attached to a brown card.

Have a wonderful day,

Walk on the Wild Side

>> Saturday, March 30, 2013

Love these critters-Jungle Animal Friends!  I colored them up with a combination of markers and sponges. For the sky, I punched out a scalloped circle and sponged on baja breeze. Vicki's versatile bg was used on the main image as well as the bg. The Walk on the Wild Side Birthday greeting was stamped on white and the clouds were made on it as well.
Have a great day!

Under the Weather

>> Friday, March 29, 2013

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well. I had no idea last weekend when I made this card that I would have been able to send to myself, lol. Must have caught something that's going around...coughing, sneezing, sore throat...you name it. And of course the day I felt the worst, my Dr's office is closed. But I managed to drag myself to the Urgent care place so hopefully, I'll be better soon.

Since you probably know someone who's similarly "under the weather", this is a pretty quick colorful little card to hopefully cheer them up. I just love this new umbrella image and it's not only perfect for baby/bridal showers it's also perfect for get well cards. I stamped the polka dot bg first w/ the rosebud ink and colored in sections w/ a Copic marker before cutting it out. The greeting was die cut and sponged w/ a little lt blue ink w/ the die still in place. I added some raindrops here and there using the 2 blue inks. I had a die cut sunflower sitting around so I used it for my sun behind the die cut clouds. I drew a little puddle, cut it out and attached it along w/ a few raindrop stickers to complete my 5.50 x 4.25 card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps: Umbrella, Polka Dot Bg, Under the Weather Greeting, Raindrop Bg
paper: white, med blue textured, yellow
ink: Memento tuxedo black, rosebud, bahama blue, danube blue
accessories: raindrop stickers, clouds & sunflower dies, Spellbinders Labels 20 die, Copie markers

Fisherman's Birthday

>> Wednesday, March 27, 2013

Hello Stampers!
Today I have a Clean and (rather) Simple Masculine Birthday card to share with you. I've used the Jumping Fish (325L) and the Tiny Happy Birthday (1081A) sentiment.

I started by stamping and coloring the image with Copic Markers.  It was cut out using a decorative Nestie Die that fit the image tightly and then I sponged light blue ink along the top edge of the image to create the sky.

The background panel was matted with green trim and I used an embossing folder to give it texture.  The image was adhered in the center and I added 3 Copper brads to the circles on the far left side.  I embellished the bottom of the image with some natural twine that was wrapped around twice and tied in a knot. Next, I created a tag using the Birthday sentiment as shown and it was adhered just under the twine knot.  The image panel was adhered onto a blue cardstock base that measures 4.45" x 5.5."

Does Dad like to fish? Don't forget that a card like this could easily be turned into a Father's Day card by just changing up the sentiment.

Thanks for visiting here today!

Smiles,
Jennifer

Sympathy Card

>> Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Hi Everyone,

I have a sympathy card to share with you today.  These are the hardest cards to make when you need one quickly, so I love having them on hand.

I started with a lime-ish colored card base and paired it with a deep purple.  I stamped the Long Tall Wheat to match the green and then I switched to purple for the flowers from the Four Flower Background.

The Textured Butterfly was stamped in Versamark on vellum, embossed with a purple, glittery powder and then fussy cut and attached to the card only in the middle.  This let me bend the wings a bit and give it some dimension.  Lastly I stamped the Extending Sympathy in purple as well.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Easter

>> Monday, March 25, 2013

Happy Monday! Today I have an Easter card to share that I made for my parents.

I started by stamping the image on white CS with Memento Black ink. After coloring the image with Copics,   it was die cut with a nestie rectangle die and sponged with Barely Banana ink while still in the die. This layer is attached to another die cut rectangle that was also sponged with Barely Banana ink. Both of these rectangles are attached to a white card base that is a bit smaller than the largest rectangle. A while flourish, flower, half pearl and bow were added to complete the look.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember you still have time to join the basket challenge here at DRS Designs. You could be the winner of some awesome DRS stamps!! You can see details here.

Easter Sleepover

>> Sunday, March 24, 2013

Good Morning all, I know that it is spring but it sure does not feel very much like it here. Maybe this little card will give you a little spring feel.

I used the Easter Sleepover stamp by DRS designs and copic markers to color the image. And the Marvelous Squares by Spellbinder, to cut the layers. The white panel was stamped with Silhouette Butterfly and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink the embossed it in a Cuttlebug embossing folder. A Martha Stewart punch was used to make the lace around the edge. And attached to a white card.

Have a wonderful day,

Janett

Copic: RV10, V04, V06, YG41, G82, G21, Y32, Y00, YR00, B00

Shower Umbrella

>> Friday, March 22, 2013

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your first few days of spring have been pleasant. I tell you, it hasn't felt much like spring around here. Yesterday it was in the low 40's all day and so windy it could blow you off your feet! I opened the back of my car and one of my reusable shopping bags blew out and I ended up chasing it half way across a parking lot. Yep...good times!

With spring hopefully on its way, it puts you in the mind of weddings and baby showers and even April showers. I used the color challenge on Splitcoast for my colors. I think they are nice, soft colors for a shower card. I stamped the umbrella and double chevron in gray ink because I wanted a softer look than black would have given me. I added color w/ Copics and cut the umbrella out. The sentiment was stamped w/ dark blue ink and die cut. I added some raindrops w/ the gray ink and went over them w/ a clear glaze pen. The top half of the panel was embossed then I added the umbrella, sentiment and one sparkly raindrop sticker. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps: Umbrella, Raindrop Background, For Your Shower, Double Chevron (coming soon!)
paper: white, sky blue, bayou blue

A Shower for You...

>> Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Welcome!

Happy Spring!!  Not only does my card today make me think about weddings and babies, but it's also got me thinking about warm spring rain showers - as opposed to the snow and sleet and hail and icy rain we've been getting recently!  Spring weather is coming soon...right????

This was a fairly simple card to make after I figured out how I wanted to color my umbrella :)  It was so hard to stop coloring it in striped sections.  I should mention that the umbrella and both sentiment designs are new this week - just in time for those wedding and baby showers I mentioned!

I started my card by stamping our new Umbrella Stamp and then cutting a piece of scrap paper the width of the umbrella and masking the white cs.  The Raindrops were stamped using turquoise ink that I blotted on scrap paper.  Next I stamped a second umbrella, our Scroll Wording Frame (and the new For Your Shower sentiment inside it) and the Rain Down Greeting on a separate piece of cs.  The sentiments I cut out and attached as shown, and for the umbrella I cut off the handle and after fussy cutting the top I turned it over on a mouse pad and used an embossing tool to give it a little dimension and then attached it to my card.  I didn't have quite enough room for the greeting, so I carefully cutout the umbrella handle and moved it upward, in between the top parts of the umbrella

Here's a close up of the double top and the shortened handle!  I added 3 tabs to the top of the umbrella so the top would be attached to the card and the bottom pops out about 1/4".

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Don't forget you have until next Wednesday to link up your "basket card". Then stop in on Thursday to see if you're the winner and see what new challenge we have for you!

Sending You Happy Thoughts

>> Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Good Morning Everyone!
My card share has an unusual element about it today....It's a Clear Polyester Sheet!  While I don't use acetate, or things like this very often, whenever I do, I always think the end result is really cool.  I cut the sheet in half and scored it in the center, before I sent it through my machine to emboss it.  Then I set it aside while I made the rest of my card.
Very simply I stamped the Three Flowers with Butterfly, colored it with Copics and used my rectangle Nestabilities die to cut it out.  I also went ahead and stamped my One Line Happy Thoughts greeting, layering it to match my image, and again I set these aside to complete my base.

The red card was stamped along the bottom using the Polka Dot Background, and I added a strip of green glitter using some super sticky tape. Once that was complete, I placed my Embossed Polyester Sheet over the card, and simply tied a yellow ribbon at the top.  This keeps the two pieces together, but still gives it movement too.  Then I adhered the image and sentiment to the front.

Hopefully you like the idea of adding another element to your cards!  Have a good one :)

Happy Monday!!

>> Monday, March 18, 2013

Today I have a CAS Grad card to share with you. I really like red, white and black cards, especially for grad cards, though it is fun to use the school colors too!

I started with a white card base, added a layer of red CS, a layer of black CS and then another white layer that was stamped with the Graduation Background in Memento Black ink. The Graduation sentiment was stamped with Memento Black ink on white CS, die cut with a Nestie Romantic Rectangle die, sponged with Real Red Ink while still in the die and then layered on a piece of black CS. A black and white gingham ribbon was added to the side of the black panel before attaching it to the card. A red button was added to the ribbon with some black baker's twine.

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to use a basket on your card. You still have time to play and we'd love to have you join us. You can see details here.

Hogwash!

>> Saturday, March 16, 2013

I had a lot of fun making this silly card.  I stamped the Leonard Pig's Bathtime Buddies in versamark and embossed in brown.  I then colored the pigs in with pink passion and a bit of light pink for their noses. Using a sponge, I put on some close to cocoa and then dragged the ripped edges right through the pad. The embossed bg was inked up with pink passion as was the sentiment: Hogwash saying.  A bit of bling and some close to cocoa sponging on the embossed layer and I have a birthday card.

Birthday Hiker

>> Friday, March 15, 2013

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your first week of Daylight Savings Time has been good. It's usually a bit tough to realign my body clock for a week and my parrots just know it's a mean joke I'm playing on them. When my daughter was little, she used to tell me she couldn't go to bed because it was still light outside.  Now if I can only find some tiny little parrot wristwatches so they can tell time for themselves.

So for my masculine birthday card, I took a challenge on Splitcoast as my direction on this one. The challenge was to use gradient color, from light to dark. I made the background layer, the strip on the right and the backing oval all gradient colors of brown/orange using my Copics. These are colors I don't use very often but they seemed to work for this card. I overstamped the strip and background using the Lines O'Plenty and Vicki's Versatile Bg using the 3 ink colors. On the main oval, I stamped the Silhouette Hiker and Trees with the brown ink and I stamped the trees again on the large background behind the oval. The Birthday Greeting was inked w/ the 3 inks before stamping. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Irish Blessing Wreath

>> Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Hi Stampers!

Jennifer back again today to share a wreath card I made with you.  This is the second card I've created for current challenge here on the DRS Blog which is to use Shamrocks or 4 Leaf Clovers.

I started by stamping and coloring the Shamrock Circle (619L) and then I fussy cut it.  Next I adhered 3 different layers together for the card front.  The top panel was dry embossed, the middle panel was decorated with a border punch, and the bottom panel was stamped with the Troubles Be Less Greeting (693F). Then I used a circle Nestability die to cut the hole in the center and added brads to the far left side as shown.

A piece of green cardstock was used for the 4.25" x 5.5" card base.  I used the card front as a stencil and traced the center circle with a pencil on the card base so that I could make sure that I die cut a hole in the card base to match the hole in the card front.  The card front was then adhered to the base and the Shamrock Circle was adhered over the top of the opening.  I completed the card front by adding a beautiful white satin bow to the top of the wreath.

I used a piece of white cardstock for the inside panel and stamped only the middle portion of the Shamrock Blessings 3" Giga Oval (461K) in the area inside the wreath.  This allowed the words "An Irish Blessing" to be seen in the middle of the wreath when the card was closed.  I had a lot of fun making this and I hope you enjoyed seeing it!

Can I interest you in a $10 store voucher to DRS Designs? That's the prize being given to one lucky winner of the Shamrock challenge.  Hurry and play along NOW! This challenge closes at 6pm ET today!

Thanks for stopping by!

Smiles,
Jennifer

Blooming Easter

>> Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Hi Everyone,

Easter isn't too far off, so I thought I would share another card that I made celebrating this awesome spring holiday.  The card took shape because I wanted to use up these pink, store bought flower embellishments. I began by choosing the Blooming Easter Greeting which I stamped in Versamark, embossed and die cut.  Perfect match for the velum blossoms I thought.   After adding some pink sponged ink,  I layered it on another die cut, echoing the petals of the flowers.

The background was made by stamping the Interlocking Flowers on one side and the Script Font Background down the other,  and I covered the space where they met with a piece of ribbon and lace. Sweet, simple and (almost) monochromatic.

Have you sent in your guess for our Stamp A Versary contest yet?  All the clues were listed in yesterday's post and you can see the prizes and enter your guess here. You have until March 16th....Good Luck!

Praying Bunny, Shape Easel Card

>> Sunday, March 10, 2013

I wanted to use a Easter Card today. And try something new so I went with this shape easel card. I just love this little Praying Bunny by DRS designs. I stamped the Bunny Tracks with Spun Sugar then stamper the Easter is Gods Love in black ink. The bow is seam binding that was dyed with the Spun Sugar.

Paddy and his Shamrock Circle

I stamped the shamrock circle on certainly celery and used a circle punch to cut out the center and then a large scallop punch to finish it off. I only used Paddy's head for this creation and colored him in gray, crumb cake and green. The gray layer was embossed with the lattice folder and some fun gingham ribbon to match.

Get Your Irish On Again!

>> Friday, March 8, 2013

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
It's getting closer to the time of  the wearin' o' the green! Not a problem for me...green (any shade) is my fave color and my Mom's side of the family is almost totally Irish. At least I didn't inherit her red hair and freckles, lol. We traced her side of the family back to County Meath, Ireland and found they came over in the 1600's to settle in Virginia. Their grandson, my Great (x 5) Grandfather fought in the American Revolution and turns out he's buried about 15 minutes away from me.

Anyway, for my Irish pennant card, I stamped the Everything Irish and the shamrock twice, drew a little pennant shape around them, then colored the bg w/ a black sharpie and the images w/ Copics. After doodling some little lines around them, I cut them out. The background was stamped w/ the lt green ink using the Woven Plaid and I added a few more shamrocks in the ivy ink. I added a flag shaped sentiment and some twine. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a GREEN weekend and keep an eye out for that pot o' gold
