Easter Promise

>> Wednesday, February 27, 2013

I can't believe it's the end of February and the Easter Holy season is already underway! Where does the time go? Seems like Christmas and New Years were just last week! Perhaps it all feels so rushed because Easter is early this year. Well, regardless it's time to start showing off my Easter cards. And that's exactly what I have in store for you today!

The 2 stamps I used on this card are by DRS Designs:

I used the Easter is God's Love Greeting as my focal point. I stamped it in purple ink and used the same ink to shade around it while it was in a Nestie die. I decorated it with a few purple rhinestones and matted it with an oval scallop made from shimmer purple cardstock.

I used a 4" x 4" piece of light purple cardstock for the middle layer and embossed it with the Cuttlebug Textile Texture embossing folder. The bottom was punched with the Treading Water border punch. I decorated it by adding a pearl to each of the holes created by the border punch, and white grosgrain ribbon was tied in a knot just above the border.  I used smooth white cardstock for the background layer and stamped the bottom portion 3 times with the Cross In A Cross stamp.

Finished card size measures 4.25" x 5.5".

And now, thank you all for being patient. Here's your Stamp-A-Versary Clue for today:

Beer is Proof

>> Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Hi Everyone,

Since it's almost March, I'm bringing you another St. Patrick's Day card today. All I can say is, I hope you like shamrocks, because this card is full of 'em...lol!

I stamped the background with the Swirly Shamrocks in a dark green ink and then went back over the same panel using a lighter green and the Silhouette Clover stamp. The Shamrock Circle was stamped on green paper ( no coloring needed if you do that ;) ) and fussy cut and attached with large glue dots to a doily die cut. My Small Beer Mug was fussy cut as well, and some Stickles were added to the foam :)

I LOVE this sentiment...lol! After stamping it, I used the Shamrock Background stamp in a lighter green color, and stamped on top of it. It just looked a little bare otherwise. Such a cute greeting for this holiday card and you can find the stamp of Franklin's Wisest Words here.

When God created you

>> Monday, February 25, 2013

Hope everyone is having a great start to their week! This is a busy week for me, but I hope to find some time  to get in my stamp room and create. It's a great way for me to relax and unwind!

Today I have a card that features Shelldon the Turtle. I think he's the cutest thing with those dots and hearts on his shell! He's stamped on white CS, colored with Copics and fussy cut. He's paired with the When God created you greeting and the Turtle Trail image.

I started with a white card base, added a layer of blue and then a layer of red that was stamped with the interlocking flower background in Real Red ink. A blue strip was punched with a MS lace punch and added to the left side of the red layer. The Turtle Trail was stamped in Memento Black on white CS, colored with Copics, sponged with some Mellow Moss and More Mustard inks. It is matted on some red and blue CS and attached to the bottom of the red panel. The greeting was stamped in black on white, layered on the same red and blue. The blue button was attached with some red bakers twine. And finally Shelldon was added with some pop dots to give some dimension.  Hope you like it!!

And I hope you are playing along in our challenge this week to use plaid on your cards. You can see details here. We'd love to have you join us.

I have the latest clue for you in our Stamp-A-Versary contest.  I don't know about you, but I'm trying to figure which 4 stamps have been with us since the beginning!!  There are some great prizes to be won!!

Flower Fence with Butterfly

>> Sunday, February 24, 2013

For my card today I used the Checkerboard Background and brown ink on craft card stock. The edge was stitched with blue thread. I stamped the Flower Fence with Butterfly and colored it with Copic markers. A little glitter glue was added for some shine. The image was cut with a Spellbinder die and layered onto navy square. The Birthday Wishes was stamped and layered onto navy card.

I hope all of you are following the clues for DRS designs Stamp-A-Versary. I have a new clue for you today.

Here's a St. Patrick's day card for you today.  I chose hazelnut tan, vanilla and baby blue for this card, and a bit of gingham ribbon.

After I stamped and embossed the hatfull of shamrocks, I decided to flip the hat and have the shamrocks come out of the bottom.  I thought it was a fun change.  The image and the bg were embossed in wasabi green ep.

Birthday in Lilac

>> Friday, February 22, 2013

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

And a big Happy Birthday to DRS Designs! Wow 20 Years! I still remember the first time I encountered DRS Designs...at a stamp convention in 2003 and it was love at first purchase, lol. I still have the flyer they gave me when I made my purchase. Several of the ones I bought have been retired, but not my favorites...the Large Original Plaid and the Open Plaid. I have used those two more times than I can count. Speaking of plaids, check out the DRS Thursday Challenge yesterday...it's all about PLAID!

For my Birthday card (yes it is a Snapdragon image, but I decided it could double for a lilac), I used Copics to color the image and also to make the light purple banner. I ran out of the color I wanted so I had to make one. I embossed it w/ a chevron folder and stamped the lt blue banner w/ an argyle pattern.  The image was die cut w/ a diamond shape die and I did a little Out of the Box treatment on it. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

And now, what you've all been waiting for! The first clue for Mystery Stamp C!!!!

Welcome to the first day of our Stamp-A-Versary Contest!!  Before we get to that I have a card to share with you today!

I actually started working on this card a couple of weeks ago for our Brad Challenge and got totally lost somewhere along the way :) and kept adding more and more and yes more, trying to make it click, finally I had to set it aside and start a whole new card.  I loved how the plaid came out, so it was fun to rip it apart and start almost from scratch and try again.

Since my last attempt was so very busy, I decided to keep this version clean and simple.  The plaid was made using our new Material Maker stamp.  After I inked it using a light pink ink I ran a couple of markers along a few lines before stamping and then did the same thing a second time, this time giving the stamp a quarter turn before stamping.  The green layer was made by die cutting the inside with a nestie and then I used an embossing folder on each end.  Instead of running it through my cuttlebug I lined up the indented side where I needed it and used an old fashioned embossing tool to make my lines.  I stamped the Love You More sentiment along the bottom using violet ink and added the center heart with the brad.  All in all a way better card than my first attempt :)

Okay, now for the fun!  It's our...

Green Beer

>> Tuesday, February 19, 2013

Hi Everyone,

Before I get to my card share, I wanted to remind you that tomorrow begins the 20th Anniversary celebration here at DRS Designs!  We'll be bringing you a contest where you can win, what else, FREE STAMPS!

Be sure to visit us tomorrow for all the fun details!

I have a simple little St. Patrick's day card which celebrates the favorite beverage of the day :)  Gosh, I hardly recognize this as a card I made, what with it being absent of bling...lol!  I used the cute Drink Green Beer greeting and the Small Beer Mug stamp to make it, cutting out the sentiment with the Curved Rectangle Nestie.

If you haven't seen them yet, you can find the current spring, St. Patrick's day and Easter stamps that DRS Designs offers right here.

Well stamping friends, since my card is pretty CAS, my post will be simple and straight forward too.

One more thing however, we are wrapping up our "love" challenge real soon, so link up your cards.  Thursday starts a new challenge, so be sure to visit us then for the new theme.

Have great day!

Goodbye Winter!!

>> Monday, February 18, 2013

In keeping with my desire to see winter go and spring come, my card today features just that!! I think this Goodbye Winter greeting is just so cute and perfect for how I'm feeling right now. I'm so ready for spring and flowers!! and yes, even bumble bees!!!

I started by stamping the interlocking flowers in Bashful Blue on white card stock and then used a yellow Copic marker to color the centers of the blue flowers. The greeting was then stamped in Memento Black ink. This was die cut with nestie squares and layered on some Bashful Blue card stock. The Bitsy Bumble Bee was stamped in Memento Black on white card stock and colored with Copics before being fussy cut and attached to the square with a pop dot.

The card base is Bashful Blue with a layer of yellow that was embossed with the CB Honeycomb folder. A strip of bashful blue was embossed with the border honeycomb folder and attached to the yellow panel after attaching a sheer blue ribbon and bow. Some blue and white daisies were punched and added to finish the look. Some yellow Fiskars dew drops were added for the centers of the flowers.

Thanks for stopping by today and taking a look. If you haven't joined in the challenge here at DRS Designs, you still have time. This week the challenge is to use the work Love on your card. We'd love to have you play along. And remember to keep watching for our 20th Anniversary Fun that's coming soon!!

Until next time,

shelia

Get your Irish on!

>> Saturday, February 16, 2013

I had so much fun making this card!  I am definitely going to have to give this to a neighbor whom reminds me so much of this Lucky Larry Leprechaun! VERY Irish. I added the  Shamrock bg as a backdrop and the single four leaf clover I stamped on gumball green, cut out and put a layer of crystal effects on it. The silver is metallic.
Thanks for stopping by to take a look.  Head on over to the DRS Designs store for some awesome stamps!

Snow on Pines

>> Friday, February 15, 2013

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has been great! Can you believe it's already mid-February??

For this card, I'm using the fabulous Silhouette Majestic Pines. I white embossed them on some cobalt blue card stock, then used a torn paper mask to add some white embossed "snow drifts".  This is one of those cards that started out along a much different line, and the blue panel was much wider. But as it evolved, I ended up cutting the panel down and adding three snowflakes on the upper left with the blue ink and the greeting on a separate panel below it. I added some stickles to the moon and snowflakes and if I'd waited until it dried, it wouldn't look so puffed up, lol. But apparently I have the patience of a gnat when it comes to watching paint or stickles or ink dry. Believe me, if I could have I would have used a heat tool. But been there, done that, and it didn't end well. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! May all your stickles dry quickly!

Supplies:
stamps: Silhouette Majestic Pines, 4 in 1 Snowflakes, Stepping Back in Time Greeting
paper: white, cobalt blue
ink: Colorbox frost white pigment, Memento bahama blue
accessories: white embossing powder, stickler
