Have a Spooktacular Evening!

>> Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Hi Everyone,

It's Karin posting today with a final card in honor of Halloween.  Hopefully those of you in the storms path, didn't receive too much damage.  Around here, all the schools around here have been closed, we personally had power go on and off at least a half a dozen times yesterday. My husband finally made it to work after changing his driving route 3 times due to flooding, and downed trees and power lines.  Let's just say, I'm personally feeling very grateful after watching the national news, so my thoughts got out to those who have lost so much.

My card is straight forward with a base stamped with the Interlocking Stars background, and the Witches Brew Greeting and Burning Cauldron colored up and placed on top.

Unfortunately, due to FrankenStorm Sandy, our trick or treat has been rescheduled for the weekend. At least it was rescheduled...It's never a good thing to leave me with that much chocolate in the house :)

Happy Halloween!

You're So Sweet!

>> Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Hi Everyone,

I'm popping in with a sentiment on my card that can be paired with so many stamps.  You're So Sweet was just the thing for these darling little Candy Corn Bees.  Are they bees dress as candy corn for Halloween, or are they candy corns disguised as bees so that no one will eat them? lol! Either way they have the most adorable little faces :)

I stamped them on the layered base, added those dashes myself for the fluttering trails and glittered up their wings.

While that was drying, I stamped those five bees on a separate sheet of paper, colored them up and fussy cut them out.  Then I pieced them on top with a pop dot for a bit of dimension.

Hope you have a super sweet Halloween!

Karin

P.S. In case you haven't noticed, some of the DT members have been showing off the new autumn themed stamps the last few days...They will be released on Saturday! Mark your calender, so that you can order them asap!

Thinking of You

>> Monday, October 29, 2012

Hope everyone is okay this morning after Superstorm Sandy, especially those of you on the east coast!

My card today is a Thanksgiving card created for my daughter and her new husband. Well, he'll be her husband by Thanksgiving. Their wedding is in less than 2 weeks!! We are super excited!

Last weekend I purchased this picket fence die and could hardly wait to try it out!  I stamped the Easy grass background stamp in Old Olive and then sponged some More Mustard and Antique Linen around the grass. I sponged Bashful Blue to create the sky, then stamped the sentiment in Memento Black. The October Pumpkin image was stamped in Memento black, colored with Copics, fussy cut and attached with pop dots. I added some green dew drops in the upper right hand corner to complete the look.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Until next time,
shelia

Swirling Autumn Leaves

>> Saturday, October 27, 2012

I made my card today to continue on with our Thursday challenge which is Autumn.  I stamped the medium silhouette leaf image on a fall colored spectrum pad and then spritzed stamp with water before stamping. Next, I added some gilding bitz. Once The November birthday greeting was stamped, I used a stamped off and spritzed with water leaf over the sentiment.  Lastly, I took both images and covered with glossy accents and set aside. My brad is olive colored but difficult to see in the photo.
Have a great day!

Happy Fall Y'all!

>> Friday, October 26, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has gone well. It's almost time for new releases! Only a week to go so I thought I'd give you a little sneak peek. Every image I used is one of the newbies. Aren't they fabulous? I just had to use the greeting...y'all probably noticed I use the word "y'all" all the time, lol. And the wheat stalk and checkerboard are fantastic! Can't tell y'all how long I've wanted a checkerboard border. That cute little scarecrow is a real sweetie, too. I just love the little crow on his shoulder. We have a group of crows that visit our backyard every morning. They know I throw food out for the squirrels (it keeps them out of the bird feeders) and they drop by to check out the goodies. I saw a documentary on crows and they are soooo intelligent. And they have incredible face recognition capabilities. They sure know me and what time I show up w/ food!

The little scarecrow was colored w/ copics and trimmed w/ deckle scissors. I used the new woven bg image to make the brown and rusty colored layered behind him. The wheat was stamped w/ 3 colors of ink across my 5.50 x 4.25 white card. I added a strip of checkerboard across the bottom and some picket fence punched strips around the scarecrow layers. The sentiment was die cut and I added some shading for a little interest.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Y'all check back next week for the new releases! And don't forget about our DRS Thursday Challenge...Fall Greetings!

Moonlight and Magic

>> Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Hi Stampers! Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having a wonderful week!
Jennifer here today to tell you about this week's Wicked Wednesday ATC challenge. DRS Designs is their sponsor and for playing along, you have a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the DRS Designs store.  The theme is "Full Moon."

It's been a really long time since I've created any sort of ATC's, so I decided to take this opportunity to create a Halloween ATC and then I used it to create a card. If you're familiar with ATC's, you know that they are only 2.5" x 3.5" in size. It was a nice change to work on a smaller scale! The Halloween scene on my ATC was created using 3 stamps from DRS Designs: the Spooky Tree with Moon (070L), the Accent Bats (517A), and a portion of the Moonlight and Magic Halloween Greeting (609G). Everything was colored with Copic Markers, even the background--I originally started with white cardstock! I used a scalloped rectangle die to create a mat for the scene and used an ATC sized piece of yellow shimmer cardstock for the base. I thought the black ribbon completed it nicely.

Then I created this card by adding a little texture with a star embossing folder, some star-shaped rhinestones, and yummy purple and yellow plaid ribbon. I used the remaining portion of the Moonlight and Magic greeting at the top, and the ATC was added at the bottom. Viola! Another Halloween card was complete!

Please check out all of the wonderful ATC's created by the Wicked Wednesday DT and link your ATC for a chance to win!

Thanks for stopping by!

Smiles,
Jennifer

I Melt for You!

>> Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Hi Everyone,

What a week it's been since I last posted...Whew!  It was exhausting and totally fun :)  Before I share, let me show off a card that includes a couple of the latest stamps from DRS Designs. I think you'll agree, they are so super cute :)

The base was stamped with the Marshmallow Background, in a white pigment ink on a dark brown background.  After stamping the Toasting Marshmallow and coloring it with my Copic markers, I die cut it with my Nestabilities Labels One die and added a bit of paper piercing around the layer for some interest.

The Mini Marshmallow was stamped multiple times to create that border piece and the I Melt for You greeting was layered in colors to match the card itself.  Both of these stamps can be found in the new releases here.  Looking back at this picture, I wish I had added a bit of glitter to the flames.  How could I have let that go?  Me and my love of bling...What was I thinking?  Thank goodness the cuteness of the stamps make up for the lack there of :)

I mentioned in my post last week that DRS Designs was coming to a stamp show in the greater Cleveland area, and a couple of my design team mates and I were fortunate to be able to attend!

What a thrill it was to meet these talented ladies in person, as well as have the privilege of doing a demo with Jennifer our DT Coordinator at the DRS Designs booth.

Here is a photo of the booth (well, most of it anyway) and our demo/make n take area in the front:

It was so, so cool seeing my design team mates cards in person on that back wall.  I know we all post them to the blogs, but there is nothing like seeing them up close.  Wowza! So impressive!

And a close up of the Argyle Background & Argyle Diamond stamps that were our demo:

I love these stamps!  I've used them so many times this year...Do you have them?  No?  Let me remind you what I've done with it:

See what I mean?  Cute, right?!

And lastly, here is a photo of us.  I think I promised Sue that I wouldn't put it on Facebook, but I don't remember promising not to put it on the blog...Ack!  Please forgive me Sue ;)

 Shelia, Me (Karin), Jennifer, Sue

I was lucky enough to have Shelia and Jennifer stay in the area Saturday, so after the show they both came to my house  for a night of food and stamping.  I was in heaven! So. Much. FUN!  It was midnight before we knew it!   I only wish we all lived around the corner from each other, so that this could happen on a regular basis :)  Next time it needs to be all of us DT ladies...Hear that, Julie, Pam and Janett??!  You were missed :)

Thanks so much for peeking in on the blog today and remember to join us for our challenges every Thursday!

Have a good one :)
Karin

CATS

>> Monday, October 22, 2012

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a good weekend. I had a fabulous weekend. I was able to go to a stamping show in Cleveland and meet some fantastic DRS Designs' ladies!!  :-) We had such fun together. I hope we can get together again whenever another stamp show is in the area!!

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is Cats. So my card today features a new Halloween cat stamp from DRS.

The empty spider web was stamped in Memento Black on green card stock and attached to the black card base after adding the EEK ribbon at the bottom. The main image was stamped in black on white card stock and layered on black that was punched with Fiskars spider web border punch. I stamped the vertical sentiment on white and layered it on black to finish it off.

We'd love to have you play along in this week's challenge. You might win some awesome new stamps!

Burning Cauldron

>> Sunday, October 21, 2012

Hello everyone, I hope your having a beautiful Sunday. The card that I want to share with you today used Burning Cauldron and Magic Halloween Greeting.

I stamped the Burning Cauldron with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic markers some glitter glue to add some sparkle. Spellbinder dies were used to cut everything out. I used the smallest Spellbinder book die to create a spell book, all good witches need a spell book. Thanks for looking.

Have a wonderful day,

Janett

A Cauldron Halloween Night

>> Saturday, October 20, 2012

Good Saturday!  I am definitely in a Halloween mood and had fun making this card!  I love our festive Halloweeen stamps at DRS Designs...check them out!
For this card I used the new releases: tree limb, the Burning Cauldron and the vertical Happy Halloween.  I stamped the images in versamark and embossed in black.  I took so many photos to try to show the glitter in the cauldron and the black glitter on the steam....not so much!  I masked the moon and sponged the bg.
Head on over the the online store for some fun stuff.

Priceless

>> Friday, October 19, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
Ready for a quick and easy card? I just love this greeting. And how true! Yum, chocolate! Why wait for a special occasion?

This week there was a technique challenge on Splitcoast called acrylic block stamping. So easy...all you do is smash some ink onto an acrylic block. I used a long narrow one and just because I wanted to, I used the side that has the grid lines. After you ink it up, you spritz it w/ a little water then stamp it. Stamp a few images on top of the ink (after it dries a bit) and remember to mask the sides. That's it! To fill in my card, I stamped the Witch Accessories using the same ink and added just a touch of shading.  For the greeting, I stamped, die cut it and punched the left side w/ a spiral punch. Since the greeting covered up part of the broom handle, I used a stamp postitioner to restamp the handle onto the greeting panel. I sponged a little orange ink around the edges and used a purple pen to doodle around two sides.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a "priceless" weekend!

Supplies:

Goin' Batty!

>> Wednesday, October 17, 2012

by Sue

Welcome!

I had so much fun stamping this card last night I just had to share it with you!!

I started with a piece of white card stock and stamped our Haunted House #058P at the bottom and added our new Accent Bats #517AAfter making a mask of the moon I sponged on both purple and raspberry inks.  I removed the mask and sponged on  light yellow ink in the moon.

Now for the fun part!  After making sure the ink was dry, I taped on a piece of scrap card stock on the back to use as a handle and then used my versamark ink pad and tapped it all over the front of the card.  After applying LOTS of clear embossing powder I heat set it for a little gloss.  Well, a little gloss wasn't enough for me ;) so I repeated the inking and added another layer of embossing powder and melted it to an enamel like finish.  I'm such a sucker for shiny!!  And best of all?  It was dry immediately - Yeah!

To finish up I stamped just the House again on a second piece of cs and after embossing and coloring I fussy cut it and layered it on top using pop dots.  The sentiment, Go Batty #090D was also stamped on a separate piece of cs and after adding more bats, and more sponging, I adhered it across the top.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Don't forget  you still have time to enter our "Witches" challenge and we're currently sponsoring the latest challenge at the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog - Good Luck!!

Live in the Cleveland Ohio area??  Check out the stamp show going on this weekend!  Be sure to stop by and introduce yourself to Jennifer, Karin, Shelia and myself!  Talk about a fun way to spend a Friday night or Saturday!

Happy Stamping!

Play for a Chance to Win

>> Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Hi Everyone,

Did you see the title to my post today?  Yes, this week you have two chances to win yourself some DRS Designs stampy goodness.  This first card is to remind you of our very own challenge here at the blog...We have a challenge every Thursday, and you still have time to get in on our theme this week...Witches!

Now this card doesn't have the witch herself, but it does have her "Witchly" Accessories :)  I made the background with the Spooky Eyes and Eeeek background stamped in purple and black. I dyed my own seam binding ribbon to match the card base and the In the Accessories greeting is one of my all time favorites from the current catalog.  I finished it off with some rhinestone bats.  You know me, I gotta have my bling!

This next card was made in support of the current challenge at the Cupcake Inspirations challenge blog.  DRS Designs is the sponsor this week, so I encourage you to join in for a chance at at great prize.

Here is the inspiration photo:

And this is my take using Interlocking Stars, Starry Background and Love You to the Moon Greeting:

It was my hubby's birthday yesterday, so this was the card I gave him. I tried to keep it as clean and simple as possible and when he opened it he said, "I like it... It doesn't have a lot of 'stuff' on it."  High praise...lol!

For those of you in the Cleveland Ohio area, DRS Designs will be coming to a stamp show in Strongsville.  It's this Friday and Saturday at the Erhnfelt Event Center and I will be at the booth along with Sue, Jennifer and Shelia.  I can't begin to tell you how excited we are to be there, so please stop by and say hello.  We would love to meet you!

Hope you're having a great week!

You're So Sweet!!

>> Monday, October 15, 2012

Wow, can you believe it's already October 15th? The month is half over. I'm thinking the time is going by way too quickly. Maybe that's because my daughter is getting married next month in Virginia and there"s still a bit to do!!

Today I have another Halloween card to share.

I found this glitter card stock at JoAnns and just had to get it. Boy is it ever messy! I had glitter everywhere - even on the poor dog!

The card base is basic white with a layer of the glitter orange. The Precious Pumpkins were stamped on white card stock, colored with Copics, fussy cut and layered on a strip of the black glitter paper that was punched with a border.  I added a strip of black velvet ribbon and tucked the You're So Sweet sentiment underneath to finish it off.

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is Witches. We'd love to have you join us! You can see the details here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,
shelia

Batty Happy Halloween

>> Sunday, October 14, 2012

Hello everyone, I’m back again with more Halloween stamps from DRS designs. For my card this week I  used the Tree Limb, Accent Bats, Batty Happy Halloween, and Empty Spider Web.

For my card the first thing that I did was cut a circle with a Spellbinder die and attach it to my card stock and air brushed yellow around the edge of the moon and a little lt. blue across the middle then I stamped the Accent Bats with Tuxedo Black. The Tree Limb was stamp in  Rich Cocoa and the sky was air brushed with Copics. I stamped the Happy Halloween with black. This was air brushed the same as the sky. On the Yellow card I stamped the Empty Spider Web in the lower corners and attached everything to a black card.

Have a wonderful day,
Janett

SPOOOOKY Halloween

>> Saturday, October 13, 2012

I made another card for Halloween...though I didn't use any new releases on this card, DRS Designs has some awesome stamps for you.  On this card I used spooky halloween greeting, spooky eyes background and argyle background. I decided to add a little more fun to the "o's" in Spooooky and made some eyes using a hole punch and then drew in the pupils. The sentiment and spooky eyes layer are on dimensionals.  The ribbon and googly eye finish it off.

Halloween Recipe

>> Friday, October 12, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
Halloween is drawing ever closer! Are you getting scared? I have just the recipe for you. And this card isn't really scary...just fun. It actually started out because of a Splitcoast challenge to use plaid. Plaid you say? DRS Designs has just the stamp for that. I love the open plaid & lg original plaid, too, but this woven plaid is just plain awesome! Only problem is, every one always thinks it's designer paper!

The plaid was stamped just w/ the lighter purple in 2 directions, then I inked only one of the stripes w/ the orange and (tried) to stamp it in between the purple stripes. Too much orange on top of purple can look pretty yucky, lol. Then I inked one stripe w/ the darker purple and did the same thing. The cauldron was stamped with orange and the recipe was stamped on top in purple. I used a stamp positioner to drop the last line of the greeting down a bit. I used a die (and resized it) to cut it out. To make the glitter buckle and dots, I ran my tape adhesive (or use strips of double sided tape) over a piece of orange card stock. Sprinkle w/ glitter, tap off excess. Cover entire glittered area w/ clear packing tape. Now it's ready to die cut or punch w/o the glitter falling off.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out the DRS Thursday Challenge....WITCHES! Link us up to your creation and you'll be entered to win! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps: Burning Caldron, Witches' Brew Greeting, Woven Plaid
paper: white, orange, dk purple
ink: Memento grape jelly, tangelo & Lulu lavender
accessories: Spellbinders resplendent rectangle die, Sizzix buckle die, 1/4 inch circle punch, clear pkg tape, orange glitter
