Happy Friday! 

I hope y'all have had a great week! We have a few birthdays coming up in the next couple of weeks, so I'm really happy to see these new birthday images. The new greeting I'm showing today is just fabulous! Don't you love that retro font and little sparkles? I thought it went well with the single candle and Birthday Candle Burst (minus the greeting). I die cut the sentiment with a pennant die and stacked a few different die cut buttons. The green layers are real but I used markers to add the other borders. I added a little stickles for some sparkle and my 4.25 x 5.50 card was finished.

Birthday Wishes

Welcome!

Have you checked out the new Birthday stamps at www.drsdesigns.com yet? One of my favorites is the new Argyle stamp and the Solid Diamond that works with it to easily fill in the diamonds!

With just a little practice I was able to stamp the argyle stamp side by side (using turquoise ink), and then it only took a couple of minutes to fill in the spring green and lavender diamonds. Once that was done I stamped our new Birthday Flower Circle and classic Cherry Top Cupcake both using black ink.  After layering it as you see here,I stamped the Vertical Birthday Wishes using turquoise ink and then added some white liquid pearls to both the top of the cupcake and to the yellow giga circle.

A Tale of Two Cards

Hi Everyone,

 

Have you been enjoying seeing cards made with the stamps that were released this past weekend at DRS Designs?  I had a blast making some of my favorite kinds of cards with them...Birthday cards!  They're the ones I make and send most often, so how could I not love them, right?

 

I thought I would shake things up by showing off two cards today.  I made them at the same time, one right after the other, so I thought I'd take some time to share my thoughts.

 

It always depends on who the card is going to, and the delivery method of the card that determines how much I embellish a card.  So while they are clearly different, they're both what I would consider my "style" of card.

 

This first card I would hand deliver attached to a gift for a birthday party, so I used lots of layers and some chunky buttons.  I colored up the Best Present Ever Cutie Pie Kid first, and then used those same colors, along with the Easy Dot background and Silhouette Balloon stamps to create my papers.  The new Sitting Thinking stamp matched the adorable boy, so that became my sentiment for the front.

 

 

This second card used the same type of color combo, but is flat and one that makes for easy mailing. I used the Silhouette Balloon again, and stamped it in Versamark and embossed it with clear powder. (Hard to see in the photo, but if you look at the top of the card, you can see the shine on the one balloon peeking out from the border...lol.) Vertical Birthday Wishes greeting is a new release along with the Framed Balloon Postage stamp.  Yes, you can used that on the corner of your envelope and put a stamp in the center!  Here I've used it on my card and inserted the Tiny Happy Birthday in the center.  To make it festive and not too plain, I added my beloved Stickles to those party balloons!

Confetti Alert!!

Today I want to share a card created with a new release from DRS Designs called Confetti Alert.

The image was stamped in Memento Black on white card stock and colored with Copics. I used my nesties to cut some circles and scalloped circles to layer behind the image. The panels were created using the EK Success Swiss Cheese punch. It reminds me of confetti! To finish it off some green, orange and red bakers twine were added to the bottom. This was a quick and easy card to create.

Sitting Thinking

 Happy Sunday everyone, what a beautiful weekend it has been. Today DRS designs has released some new stamps, and I want  to share a few of them with you.

On X-Press blending card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink I stamped the  Purr’fectly Comfortable Kitty and covered it with a mask and stamped the Country Window this was also covered with a mask. Then with Color Box Chalk Wisteria ink I stamped the Open Plaid background stamp on the top three fourths of the card. I covered all this with Post it’s and stamped the bottom third with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the Open plaid stamp. The floor was sponged with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink. The image was colored with a combination of Derwent Inktense water color pencils and Copic Markers. The Sitting Thinking Greeting was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and sponger with the Wisteria Chalk Ink and cut out, and attached with Pop dots.

A daisy treat

My card today features our medium daisy bloom and the "A treat for You" greeting.  I decided to bring my crafting supplies up to the kitchen table so I could be with my dogs.....the littlest one can't be trusted in the basement with me:)  I had SERIOUS issues with bugs. Bugs everywhere.  I had to keep blowing them off of everything.  I closed one in my noir black stamp pad!  Anyhow, I am happy with how this turned out and it will go to my dd in college.  Her fave color is purple.  I did a criss cross card and randomly stamped the daisy on white paper and colored in with markers. Applied the olive with a kleenex (you get creative when you forget your sponge in the basement!).

Skates

Happy Friday!

It may not be snow time quite yet, but I can only hope we'll have an actual winter this year. Last year, we kind of skipped from fall right over to spring before being slapped by that early blast furnace called summer. Hard to believe, but it's actually been much cooler in August than it was in June. What's up with that??

Along with this terrific ice skates and sentiment, I'm also showing you a sneak peek of a fabulous new Argyle border w/ a coordinating solid diamond to fill in the blanks. How cool is that? I stamped the argyle across the bottom and then the diamond, first in lt blue then in pale pink. I used a snowflake embossing folder on the top section then attached my skates w/ a double die cut frame. Argyle is my fave sock so I'm wondering if I can stamp this on my plain socks to dress them up. Life's too short to wear blah socks. Y'all would laugh if you saw some of the ones in my sock drawer. There's seasonal...Christmas, fall, St. Patrick's, Patriotic...really bright neon colors...and some w/ tropical birds and palm trees. I think there's even a pair of zodiac socks along w/ a jillion pair of argyles. I even took up knitting to see if I could knit a pair of argyles. Still checking on it. Turns out it's way more complicated than I thought.

Ornament Cards

Hi Everyone!

Jennifer blogging here for you today to share a few Christmas cards I made.  I was bound and determined to use some of the many vellum sheets I have.  I guess you could say I challenged myself to use it and here are the results: 

These aren't your typical cards.  The card base doesn't have a fold.  Instead, lifting the vellum and the white cardstock (stamped with the Silent Night Sheet Music (506P) ) allows you ample space to write a personal message to the recipient on the colored cardstock located underneath. I used the same style for both of these Ornament cards, but changed up the colors a little bit. I can't decide which one I like better!  Here's a close up of the red and gold one.

  With a CAS design, these cards are great for mass producing.  Other than cutting all the cardstock and vellum, basically this card was just a few basic steps.  First, I heat embossed the Christmas Ornament Greeting (844K) on the vellum. Then, the Silent Night Sheet Music (506P) was stamped using red ink on the white cardstock layer.  A brad was then added at the top of the ornament to make it look like it was hanging, and it's what holds all of the layers together.  The final touch was to add a red ribbon tied in a bow to decorate the top of each card and then adhere all of the layers to a piece of cardstock that measures 4.25" x 5.5".  Have you started your Christmas cards yet?

Merry Christmas

Hi Everyone,

Another week is in full swing, and I'm so sorry to see the summer winding down. Lucky for me the weather this week where I live is fantastic, so we are enjoying dining outside, having bonfires and soaking up some vitamin D via the sunshine!

I'm sharing another Christmas card with you today. Since I know a lot of golfers, I decided to use the Golf Ball Snowman stamp to make some more cards. He's just so cute and since he's supposed to be white, super quick to color :)

The Easy Dot background and the new Christmas Multi Greeting were used to create my backing papers. I simply went traditional in red and green ink, and also used the small Merry Christmas from that same background stamp to make the little flag greeting. I love that candy cane striped paper clip. I hope you do too, because there were a number of them in the package, so you may be seeing me use them again before the holidays are over!

The patterned strip above the punched border is a piece of holiday washi tape.  I was trying to keep the card on the masculine side, and wanted to avoid using ribbon or a bow.

Tiny Snowmen

Today I have a card featuring DRS Designs Tiny Snowman stamp along with the Melt your heart sign. I love snowmen and these two make a cute pair.

The card base is cranberry card stock stamped with the Large Filigree Snowflake in Versafine Watermark ink. A white panel was added after punching a border with a MS snowflake punch. A panel of cranberry was added to the white after stamping the Tiny Snowman image all over with Versafine Watermark. A white ribbon was added before attaching the panel to the card base. I used my nestie snowflakes, a cranberry heart and the tiny snowman stamped on white CS, colored with copics, and fussy cut to make the medallion. The Melt Your Heart sign was stamped in Memento, colored with copics, fussy cut and attached to the card base. I glued a few of the white snowflakes left from the border punch to finish off the card.

Telescoping, Snowman Bird Buddies

I made this Telescoping Image card using the  new release stamps from DRS designs, the Snowman Bird Buddies, Visual Let it Snow, and the Triple Tree with Snow.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink I stamped the Snowman Bird Buddies. then covered this with a mask and stamped the Triple Tree with snow. The images were colored with Copic markers and Spellbinder Labels One, was used to cut the images. The last layer was sponged with Broken China Distress Ink. The Lt. blue background paper was embossed with Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder, and a white strip was embossed with the Swiss Dots folder. The Visual Let it Snow was embossed with white embossing powder and cut with a spellbinder die.

Condolences

Good morning and happy Saturday!  I am trying to get some sympathy cards added to my stash.  They aren't my favorite card to make, but I am happy with how this turned out.  I used copper ep for the Background Branch and the 1 Line Heartfelt Condolences.  I like to try and keep sympathy cards on the simpler side.  I embossed the copper layer and added some sparkly copper ribbon and a brad.

French Horn

Happy Friday!

TGIF! Right?? For many, this was the first week back to school. I know that's usually harder on the parents than the kids. For the moms & dads that means huge schedule rearranging and timing becomes an art form. The kids just have to be kids. And do what kids do. And maybe learn something new at school.

Did I ever tell y'all about the time my two little green "kids" (no, they're not recycled, lol, they are actually green, as in parrots) had a really bad day. Which translates into mom had a really bad day (yes, they call me mama). I mentioned to The Man (aka: hubby) that sometimes I wish they could go off to school, like regular kids. That night I dreamed we sent them away to boarding school. Ahhhh..if only. Can't you just see these two green birds packing their little suitcases?

Anyway, I have a fairly simple Christmas card today, featuring this wonderful French Horn and part of the Christmas Multi Greeting. It was colored with markers and I added some highlights with a gold gel pen. I inked just part of the greeting and stamped it, then die cut with a rectangle die. I had a little punched strip left over from yesterday so tacked it on the bottom after adding a narrow red layer. The poinsettia is also a die cut. It looked a little plain on the bottom so I added an embossed strip and my 5.50 x 4.25 card was finished.

Dogwood Sympathy

Is it wrong to enjoy making sympathy cards?  Or just strange?  I'm not sure why, but I find it very soothing.  Maybe because I'm working with more muted colors, flowers and keeping it relatively simple.

I'm fortunate to be able to say I wasn't in need of a sympathy card lately, but I do like to keep some on hand.  

My card today was a simple one to make.  I stamped our Dogwood Branch using gold pigment ink and embossed it using gold embossing powder.  I used a white gel pen to go around the inside of each petal.  I stamped our Many Hearts Sentiment using vintage green ink and layered both on eggplant cs.

Now to move on to happier subjects - Have you joined in on the FUN this week for our Challenge?  WHEELS are the name of the game, and a little trickier than some challenges, but come on and join us! It isn't too late! If you do not have a "WHEEL" stamp make your own!

Snowmen

Hi Everyone,

Well, we finally had some rain in Cleveland, Ohio and the weekend had a nip in the air.  I'm not ready for the change of seasons yet, but I am loving making cards with the new holiday stamps from DRS Designs.

I'm proud to feature some of them on this share today.  I used the Tiny Snowman for my backing paper and just stamping him over and over was so fun!  On top of that I used a piece of paper created by stamping with the Open Plaid stamp. 

I stamped, colored (with Copic markers) and fussy cut the new Snowmen Melt Sign and Snowman Bird Buddies stamps.  I decided my card needed some more texture, so before I matted my base for the images, I sent it through my Cuttlebug and embossed the white card stock with snowflakes.

Some twine, glitter glue and gems finished it off.

Holiday Hurricane Lamp

My card today features the recently released Holiday Hurricane Lamp. It is stamped on Vellum and colored with Copics. The card base is white and the vellum is attached to the white base. A nesties label was cut from a piece of Real Red CS, then the CS was run through the CB with a snowflake embossing folder. A white border was cut with nesties and attached to the red panel. A white satin ribbon and bow were added to the red panel before it was attached to card front.

Christmas French Horn

Happy Sunday to all, for my card I used the Christmas French Horn and the Small Merry Christmas Greeting. I used black ink and copic markers to color the image. A embossing folder was used for the border. The embossing folder is by Sizzix.

Birthday wishes with water stamping

Good morning!  

My card today features probably one of my very favorite DRS Designs stamps.  The silhouette branch is so versatile and so pretty and my small Birthday wishes greeting is wonderful as well. For my background, I chose to try the Wednesday tutorial over on SCS....Water Stamping.  I chose to do it a bit differently in that I didn't stamp with water but used a spray bottle to get the water onto the paper.  I sponged kiwi kiss, really rust and crushed curry....interesting outcome.  The silhouette branch was stamped randomly with burnt umber and so was the sentiment.  I dragged the edges through the burnt umber pad and distressed a bit right on the bg.  The sentiment is on a dimensional and some pretty ribbon and twine to complete it.  FYI...I ran out of dimensionals...shame, shame.  I saved some of my old rubber that has adhesive on it...I took the rubber off and it works just like a charm!  Voila!

Christmas Cheer

Happy Friday!

I hope your week has gone well. Today, I'm sharing a few more of the new DRS Designs Christmas images. Aren't the little bird and snowman cute? I think they fit in nicely with this wonderful Christmas greeting. I put them up in the upper right then did a little out of the box Nestie treatment with them.

The large backgrond was stamped first with the White Christmas Text then over stamped with the Snow Background. I used the same blue ink on both, but stamped the snowflakes off one time on scrap paper before stamping over the text. I wanted them to look a little softer than the text. I added some stacked die cut snowflakes and a button w/ a little red bow tied thru it. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.
