SPREAD A LITTLE SUNSHINE

>> Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Hello Everyone - Are you as ready for some sunshine as I am? This is Chrissy D here - welcome to the DRS Designs Blog! With a gray day here looming ahead in Wisconsin, all I can say is bring on the sunshine!

So if we can't have the real thing, let's make some cards that will make us smile! This Glowworm (1044D) is just the stamp to do it. Add to that this FUN Glowworm sentiment (1048G)  and you are sure to bring out a giggle in someone.

I stamped the Fly Away Hearts and Flowers (359P) and the Glowworm sentiment (1048G)   in Versamark ink and sprinkles White Embossing Powder over it and heat embossed the image. I used Prismacolor Pencils and a Signo White Gel Pen to color in the flowers and hearts. I stamped the  Glowworm (1044D) in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and color him using Prismacolor Pencils. I cut him out and popped him up with Glue Dots. I added a strip of white card stock along the top and White Satin Ribbon along the bottom. I used the Viva Pearl Pen Clear to add the three dots in the corner.

I hope you enjoyed my card today. Have an AMAZING day! Thank you for stopping by!

Embossed Cross

>> Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Hi Everyone,

Can you believe that we are nearing the end of February already?  I don't know about you, but I'm ready for spring to come.  Not only for the flowers, but for more daylight too :)

Anyway, my card today is a monochromatic one with the main image of the Lily Sympathy Cross heat embossed using white embossing powder.  I think using this technique on the card, really shows off the elegance and detail of this image. And, while this is labeled as a sympathy cross, I love this image for Easter time as well :)  I then used a coordinating ink and stamped the Sealed with a Prayer, before cutting it out with my oval die.

To finish the card, all I did was add some layers, one of those being a dry embossed one, and attached everything with some pop dots for a bit of dimension.

Have you had a chance to play along in our weekly challenge?  The theme for this week is "Use a Tag"  Hope to see you there!

Have a great day,

Happy Monday

>> Monday, February 27, 2012

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. My husband was gone all weekend to a Men's Retreat, so it was just me and the dog. But I had lots of time to make cards!! For today I've made another Easter card using DRS Designs lovely Flower Trio (1036K) and Easter sentiment (1029D).

I stamped the image in the center of the white card stock, then used a mask and stamped the image two more times, once to the right and once to the left of the center flowers. I colored the image with copics and then sponged some Bashful Blue around the flowers. I layered the white panel on some yellow card stock and attached it to the pink card. I added a layer of green card stock that was punched with a grass border.  Finally a white layer was punched with the Martha Stewart fence border. I stamped Easter blessings on this layer. A sheer pink ribbon was added before the panel was attached to the card.

Hope you like it.

Until next time,
shelia

Happy Sunday everyone hope your having a wonderful weekend.

My card today uses the new stamp With Faith 1025G. For the background I stamped Cross 1073B and embossed in gold, then I masked the cross and stamped the Star 1059G with perfect Medium, removed the mask and covered with Perfect Pearls. With Faith was stamped with Ranger Distress Ink, (Walnut Stain) and it was cut out with a spellbinder die. I stamped the Daffodil Butterfly Circle, colored the flowers with yellow copics and cut them out, I used foam tape to pop them up.

Stained Glass Window

>> Friday, February 24, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!

I hope you're having a terrific week! With all this crazy weather...warm...cold...warm...warmer...cold...etc, I know a lot of people have had the flu or the sniffles or major allergies. Seems most everything is starting to bloom about a month early so count me in the allergy group. Love the blooming, hate the sneezing, lol. Some days I feel like a walking allergy med commercial.

So anyway, I've been working on some Easter cards and finished a fairly quick and easy little card I want to share today. On white c/s, I stamped the lily cross image and added a little color. I did this really quickly since I knew I wanted a vellum overlay and some of the detail would be lost anyway. The stained glass oval was stamped on vellum w/ the gray ink and I sprinkled on the ep immediately (since it's dye ink) and heat embossed it. I sponged on a little of the pink ink onto the back side of the vellum and added just a little darker pink w/ a marker. I embossed the greeting on the marbled pink c/s using the same ep and the black ink. The window was die cut out of the pink. Then I used an embossing folder so it wouldn't look too plain. The vellum, then the image were attached underneath and then onto a 5.50 x 4.25 white card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps:
Lily Sympathy Cross. Oval Stained Glass, Impossible Faith Greeting
paper: white, marbled pink, vellum
ink: Ancient Page coal & stone gray, Distress Ink spun sugar
accessories: stardust embossing powder, Tombow markers, Spellbinders labels 13 die, Sizzix tulip border (SU) embossing folder

JOSEPHINE AND THE GLOWWORM!

>> Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Hello Friends, Chrissy D here! I created this card a few weeks ago for the Background Paper and must have never clicked publish!  I am including the Current Challenge card too. Today is your LAST CHANCE to join us, so we hope you will play along. This week's Challenge is to create a card with Words Only.

For my first card, I inked the Easy Dot Background in red ink and stamped it on white cardstock that measured 3 7/8" x 5 1/8". I layered it on black card stock that measures 4" x 5 1/4" and that upon red card stock that measures 4 1/2" x 11".

I stamped Josephine the Bold in Tuxedo black Memento Ink and colored her up with my Copic markers - R46, R24, R20, E00, E11, R20, E47. I stamped the Dear Housework Greeting in the same ink on white card stock and tilted it off on an angle. I wrapped around 3 strips of Black and White Gingham ribbon andadded buttons to finish this off.

The Glowworm Greeting Sentiment on this second card makes me smile! This would be PERFECT to brighten someone who is having a rough day! What better to make someone else smile?

For this card, I ran the yellow cardstock through the Big Shot and used a Sizzix embossing folder. It was a Bit "too yellow" so I ran my White Craft Ink Pad over it to create a more subtle background. I stamped the Glowworm Greeting on white card stock cut out with Labels Ten and my Grand Calibur. I layered it on the raspberry card stock and trimmed it with my scissors.

I cut out the Cheery Lynn Designs Fancyiful Flourish Die in Green card stock and adhered it with Mini Glue Dots. I stamped the CUTE Glowworm with Memento Tuxedo black Ink on White Storm card stock and colored with my Copic Markers Y15, Y11 and a touch of YR23. I cut out the Glowworm and used some Dimensionals to pop him up. I added a few Dew Drops to the corners with Mini Glue Dots to finish it off!

We hope you will join in on the fun and play in our challenge! Tomorrow we will have a new challenge for you! Thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!!

Glow Worm

>> Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Hi Everyone,

Super funny greeting coming your way today...Ready for it?

Are you still laughing over the Glow Worm Greeting? LOL!  I decided to make it the main focus of my card and added the new Glow Worm stamp in the corner to compliment it. Isn't his face happy?  I chose a monochromatic color scheme, so my coloring was limited to one Copic marker (Y21) and some Stickles.  Some days I just love easy, don't you?   I used the Polka Dot Background stamp along the bottom and the Interlocking Flower Background was used for my flower embellishments.  Simply stamp, cut and place :)  Lastly, I chose a striped ribbon for down the side of my card.

Hope this put a smile on your face today :)  And be sure to check out all of the most recent stamps from DRS Designs right here!

Daffodil Blessings

>> Monday, February 20, 2012

Happy Presidents Day!

Today I want to share another Easter card. I love daffodils and this new stamp from DRS Designs is so pretty with the butterfly flitting around the flowers!

I started by stamping the daffodil stamp (1073L) in Memento Black ink on white card stock and then coloring it with Copics. I hand cut the image out and layered it on some purple card stock. The card base is the same purple with a yellow panel. I stamped Easter Blessings (1029D) in Memento Black on the yellow panel before embossing it with a Cuttlebug folder. Before attaching the yellow panel, I added some white lace and a purple strip punched with a Martha Stewart border punch. A smaller yellow panel with DRS Designs Butterfly background (536H) stamped in VersaColor Lavender was added to this. And finally the daffodil image was layered on top.

Hope you like it.

Until next time,

shelia

Dear Housework

>> Saturday, February 18, 2012

Well, I wish I didn't have to do it!  My card today features two new stamps available for purchase at DRS Designs...Josephine the Bold and Dear Housework Greeting.  Josephine looks like she means business, doesn't she?  The more creations I see with this stamp, the more she is becoming a definite favorite of mine!  I used turquoise and orange white core cardstock and ran the turquoise and orange strip through a dotted ef.  Some fun dotted ribbon and a button.....a bunched border, too.
My hubby and I are going to the home and garden show this weekend.  I look forward to some new ideas for my garden and my craft room:)  I would love my wood floors redone, too!  Oh, yeah.......I hope we win a million dollar prize for all the things I'd like to do!

Take care,

Pam

Easter Window

>> Friday, February 17, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
Today I want to share a fairly simple Easter card. The blue background was embossed with a folder and the two windows were die cut. I added a bit of "lace" for the curtains with a border punch and the sentiment was slightly bowed to fit in the right window.

The spring crocus was stamped on water color paper, colored w/ markers and cut out. I did the same with the three butterflies. Except for the cutting (which really doesn't take too long), this was pretty quick.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps: Spring Crocus, Three Butterflies, One Line Happy Easter
paper: lt blue, white, water color
ink: Ancient Page coal
accessories: Tombow markers, Memory Box Small Madison window die, Sizzix (SU) tulip frame embossing folder, Martha Stewart doily lace border punch

DRAMA MAMA!

>> Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Hello Everyone! Chrissy D here coming by to share another project! I think these stamps are so much fun, however, as the mother of a whiny 7 year old, I do NOT want her to save the Drama for her Mama! I would much rather have her go else where and whine. :)

On the white card stock, I stamped the Dear Housework Greeting repeatedly using a turquoise marker to color the image. I then ran it through my Big Shot using a floral embossing folder. I layered it on black card stock. I stamped the Drama Mama greeting on a Light turquoise card stock and layered that on black card stock. The dark turquoise card stock measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". I used Viva Pearl Pen in Black to add the three dots along the bottom. Using Memento Black Ink, I stamped Josephine the Bold and colored her up using Copic Markers. I finished the card by tying a bow using Stitched Black Ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed my project today! Thank you for stopping by to look!

Unattractive Housework

>> Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Hi Everyone,

Don't you just love a card that tickles your funny bone?  Well, this one does it for me!

I so would rather be doing something crafty than washing floors or cleaning the stove.  Even with my smooth cook top range, it's one of my least favorite chores!

I think the retro look of Josephine the Bold and Dear Housework sentiment are just over the top cute :)  Since the image was a throwback, I made a little yo-yo embellishment and took the color inspiration for the card, from the material I used.

After stamping my Interlocking Circles background, I colored them in to match and I used white embossing powder, as well as the new Retro Starburst stamp for the back drop to my card.

Have you checked out the stamps in the new releases section yet?  Lots of great designs and I know you will love them :)

And one last thing, Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Happy Monday Everyone!

Today I want to share something I am making for some volunteers I work with at my church. I wanted to make Easter cards for each one, but wanted a little something to go with. So I decided to add a little pocket to my card and insert a removal bookmark. Hope you like it!

I used pink and white card stock. The white panel is embossed with a textured CB embossing folder. The pink panel behind the book mark is stamped with DRS Designs butterfly background (536H) in SU Pretty in Pink ink. The pink pocket is embossed with the CB dotted swiss embossing folder. I added a ribbon to the pocket and a small label with DRS Designs Easter Blessings sentiment (1029D).

The bookmark is sponged with Pretty in Pink ink and has DRS Designs Faith sentiment (1025G) stamped in Stazon  Black ink. I added a couple of small punched pink butterflies and a larger one. They have tiny half pearls down the middle of their bodies. (don't think you can see it in the photo). The same pink ribbon was added to the bookmark.

Until next time,
shelia

Good Morning, everyone. Well winter has arrived in Georgia, we even had a few snow flakes on Saturday morning.

The card that I’m sharing with you today is Polka Dot Flower Trio 1036k. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo black Ink, and colored with copic markers. I stamped Ladybug and Butterfly card edger 811p onto white card and colored it with copic markers. I trimmed it with a paper cutter and layered it on to purple card, it was attached to the bottom of the card.

by Julie Warner - the Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I hope y'all had a chance to check out the DRS Thursday Challenge. Some super inspiration cards there and we hope to see your entry! Today I'm featuring a lovely new Easter Blessings greeting. I paired it with the Lily Corner and used a pale yellow and white color combo. The sentiment was die cut and I sponged a little of the banana cream ink around the edges while the die was still in place. The cut out lilies were attached to my embossed yellow panel and I added a little bow on top.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
