Irish Claddah

>> Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Good Tuesday Morning to you!

I can hardly believe we are about to enter the second month of the year.  That's fine by me.  Each day is one day closer to spring.  Which means it's one day closer to summer!  I do like that there are holidays to look forward to; celebrations always make living fun :)

I've shown off many valentine's here on the blog, so in honor of St. Patrick's Day, I'm showing off this green and gold card I made today.  I had a piece of gold glitter paper left over from some 50th anniversary projects, and I thought it would be a good fit for this card.  I used some gold embossing powder on the beautiful Claddah stamp and the Swirly Shamrocks were used for the background.

Here is a closer look on a photo with a little less glare :)

I love how rich the gold embossing looks! I added some satin ribbon and a few metal stickers for embellishments to finish off the card.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope your day is off to a great start!

Happy St. Pat's Day

>> Monday, January 30, 2012

Today I want to share with you a St. Patrick's day card I created with some cool DRS Designs stamps!!

The background was created with DRS Designs Clover Sprig (731H). After stamping the clover, I colored the images with copics. The Hat Full of Shamrocks was stamped on white card stock and colored with copics. I added gold stickles to the buckle on the hat for some sparkle. I used my nesties to cut the hat out and added a scalloped layer of green. A strip of green was added behind the Hat full of Shamrocks. Some gold half pearls were added to the edges of this panel. The sentiment is a new stamp from DRS Designs - Get Your Irish On (1005D). It was stamped on white CS and layered on green.

Hope you like it. Stop by DRS Designs on line store and check out the cool new stamps!!

until next time,

Leonard Says Happy Valentine's Day!

>> Saturday, January 28, 2012

Happy Saturday from DRS Designs!  I can't believe that it is almost February!  I find it incredibly hard to believe.  However, I am looking forward to Feb. 1st as my daughter MacKenna will be officially signing to Ottawa Univ. in Kansas to play soccer.  It has been months of hard work and tough decisions.  We are so happy for her!

My card today features Leonard the Pig rose offering, Heart drops and the Happy Valentine's day greeting.  I started by stamping Leonard in versamark and embossed in black.  I colored him with going gray and pink pirouette for his nose.  The roses were painted with red smooch.  I sponged some black around him (he is a pig, you know) and then sponged some pink pirouette around the edge of the circle.  Next, it was layered with a pink scalloped circle and then just a plain red circle.  I versamarked the heart drops and embossed them in black as well.  The pinking hearts punch was used on the red layer and some sweet, black lace, heart charm and embroidery thread to attach it.  Lastly, the sentiment was stamped in black and cut into a banner.  Oh, the pink layer was run through an embossing folder.
Come check out the great stamps available in the online store!

Have a lovely day!

Shamrock Hills

>> Friday, January 27, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I tell ya, all the green in this card makes me want to start talking like the little leprechaun on the Lucky Charms commercial. Aye, they're after me lucky charms!

With the exception of the sentiment, everything else was white embossed on this card. I hand cut the hills and embossed the edges so they'd show up against all that green. The shamrocks were fussy cut and the green button was dotted w/ the white marker. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25. If you're not feeling a wee bit Irish after looking at all these green shamrocks, then you'd better go have a few green beers, lol!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
stamps: Swirly Shamrocks, Irish On Greeting, Polka Dot Background
ink: Colorbox frost white pigment, Memento Cottage Ivy
paper: white, kelly green
accessories: white embossing powder, ribbon, green button, white Permapaque marker

Great Friends

>> Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Hi Everyone,

I'm popping in with a card today featuring a newer stamp from DRS Designs.  It's the fun "Great Friends Drink Alike" stamp and I could see using it for St.Patty's Day, Mardi Gras or even just a friends birthday!

I paired mine with the Drink Line Up stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with clear powder.

And my always favorite Polka Dot Background stamp was used for the paper at the top of the card. All I needed was a few gems and ribbon to complete it.  I love having fun simple cards like this on hand.  It makes so easy to remember a friend in a special way, when a last minute need arises.

Don't forget that the current challenge here at the DRS Designs blog  is Snowmen.  Link up your card right here for a chance at a great prize!

Have a good one!

Red, White and Black Valentine

>> Monday, January 23, 2012

Happy Monday! Hope you all had an excellent weekend! We had a few inches of snow, but it's suppose to warm up and melt away today. :-(  I don't like driving in the snow, but I love seeing everything covered in white!

Today I have made a red, white and black Valentine card. I started with black card stock, stamped my image DRS Designs Girl Swirl (585G) in Versafine and then embossed it with detail white embossing powder. DRS Designs Hugs and Kisses sentiment (190G) is stamped in Stazon black on white card stock and then layered on red card stock. I used my newest nesties labels that I found on clearance at JoAnn's! The hearts were cut with a Cuttlebug die and popped up with foam squares. Red ribbon was added to complete the look.

I added white card stock inside my card since you can't really write on black card stock! I stamped DRS Designs (978F) Scattered Hearts in red in the corners.

Hope you like it.

Until next time,
shelia

A Valentine in January

>> Saturday, January 21, 2012

For my card today here at DRS Designs, I went with the Girl Swirl
Heart stamped in noir black and then high lighted with red liquid pearls.  For the sentiment, I used the brand new one line Happy Valentine greeting.  I wanted to do kind of look like a banner so I popped the center of the greeting on a dimensional and glued down either end.  Using a chip board heart, I covered it with liquid pearls and added 3 rhinestones.....it took 4 evah to dry!!!!!!!  I am a bit of an inpatient person!
Head over to the store and check out the wonderful new stamps we have....we've got you covered for the upcoming holidays!

Irish Blessing

>> Friday, January 20, 2012

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
I'm starting to feel a little green so...rather than turn into Kermit the frog, I thought I'd channel it into a St. Paddy's Day card. I love it when I get to work on St. Patrick's Day cards because any shade of green is my favorite color. I think I used 3 different shades of green and a little metallic gold on this one.

The wonderful Irish Blessing was stamped and I die cut two sizes of the badge/shield to make a double frame. Everything else is punch work. Different flowers, branches and four leaf clovers were punched and glued around the frame (I used a stylus and a foam pad to give the flowers a little shape). One little green crystal was added in the center of the gold flower on top. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies:
stamps: Irish Blessing
ink: Archival library green
paper: kelly green, pine green, lime green, metallic gold, white
accessories: Xyron Creatopia badge/shield die, various punches (Marvy, Paper Studio, Family Treasures, McGill), green crystal

Valentine Tree

>> Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Hi Everyone,

My card share today is full of Valentine's Day goodness.  It's got pink and red.  It's got gems and lace.  It's got hearts and flowers.  Well, ok, no flowers, but where was I supposed to put those? LOL!  No more room, so the flowers will have to be on my next valentine :)  Seriously though, I think this newly released
Valentine Tree is just so sweet colored in pink and red!

I used the Interlocking Hearts for the background paper and the traditional One Line Valentine greeting on a trendy banner on the bottom.

How many Valentine's do you send out each year?  I probably do maybe 6 or so, but why not join me by surprising a new friend or neighbor with one this year!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Valentines Day

>> Monday, January 16, 2012

Happy Martin Luther King Day! If you have the day off from work like me, I hope you are enjoying it!

Today I made a Valentine Card using DRS Designs new releases Scattered Hearts (978F) and One Line Valentine Greeting (996D). I cut the one line greeting into 3 lines for this card.

A while back I saw a card in a magazine using long pendants and I really like the look, so I went with that for this Valentine. I stamped DRS Designs interlocking hearts background (808H) in SU Rose Romance on pink card stock and then cut the card stock into three strips for the pendants. I also stamped the Scattered Hearts in Rose Romance on pink CS. I added some lace stickles to the 3 smaller hearts. I used my nesties to make a layer in white. The sentiment is stamped in Rose Romance on white CS, cut it into 3 parts and mounted them on one of the pendants. I added some pink twine to finish the look. Hope you like it.

Until next time,
shelia

My card today just makes me smile! Leonard is so cute, isn't he? All stamps are from here at DRS Designs and includes Leonard Pig rose offering, interlocking heart bg and A treat for you greeting. I stamped Leonard on white cardstock and colored him with pretty in pink and rose red.  The flowers were painted with red smooch.  Next, I punched him out with a scallop circle punch and added a black and rose red one as well. Using grandma's lightest pink, I used markers to color the interlocking heart bg in pretty in pink, rose red and real red. Seam binding, a corduroy button, embroidery thread, a tag with the sentiment and one paper pieced heart at bottom of Leonard were added.  I using the pinking shears heart punch for the edge.
Take care!

Love Birds

>> Friday, January 13, 2012

Happy Friday!
It just turned really, really cold here so this little early spring Valentine card looks very inviting. I guess I shouldn't complain...it's been a very mild winter so far.

The little love birds were punched out of water color paper and a little color added. I punched their wings out of some left over w/c paper that had part of the heart tree stamped on it. For the scene, after I added a water color wash of green for the ground and blue for the sky, I stamped the Valentine tree and easy grass background. I drew in the little heart flowers and added some color with markers.

The blue and green backgrounds were embossed w/ a little hearts folder and I added a border punched fence and some tiny little punched flowers and cut out hearts on top of the fence. The sentiment (part of love you to the moon sentiment.) The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Supplies:
stamps: Valentine Tree, Easy Grass Background, Love You to the Moon greeting
paper: water color, lt blue, lt green
ink: Ancient Page coal
accessories: Tombow markers, bird punches (McGill & Martha Stewart), fence punch (Martha Stewart), heart embossing folder (Cuttlebug -Love Language combo), Spellbinders labels 8 die
