SENDING YOU HAPPY THOUGHTS!

>> Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Hello Everyone - This is Chrissy D here!!! Welcome to the DRS Designs Blog today!!! I have been doing a lot of my Christmas shopping on line and I have to say, I wish there was SNOW!!! I guess I shouldn't be thinking that, as I would have to shovel but I think if we whiten things up here in my corner of the world, I would feel like it was more like Christmas. :)

Note - As I write the post the DRS Designs Store Blog is down for maintainance so I will link everything up when I get up in the morning!

Todays card makes me SMILE! I just love these little Penguins 966K. I cut the sentiment Sending you Happy thoughts 951D into strips and attached them to the card! I stamped the large Snowflake on the background and then ran the white card stock through my Big Shot with my Snowflake Cuddlebug folder. I used the Snowflake Spellbinders Die and added a button to my card!

I hope you have enjoyed my card! Come back tomorrow to see the Challenge we have in store for you! We hope you will join in on the fun! Have a wonderful day!

Joy to the World

>> Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Hi Everyone,

My card share today at the DRS Designs blog has a monochromatic color scheme in shades of purple and lavender.  It's just a little something different from the usual red and green I usually use for the holidays.  Taking inspiration from my Joy to the World sentiment, I embossed my white background with music notes.  The tilted panel was also embossed and I used my Fiskars corner adorner and punched all of the corners to match each other.  The main Holy Family Manger stamp was stamped and fussy cut and adhered on top of the card.  The little star that you see is also part of the Holy Family Manger stamp.  However after stamping it, I cut it out with a star punch and layered it on a second star.  This gave me the option of placing it where I wanted it to appear on my card.

I love making a mix of of cards for the Christmas holiday...Everything from Christian themed ones, to winter ones with snowmen.  No matter what your style, DRS Designs really has a great variety of stamps and you can check out the latest designs right here!

Happy Christmas season!

Happy Cyber Monday!

>> Monday, November 28, 2011

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!! I had a great weekend. And I must admit, I'm not entirely ready to return to work today!! I'd much rather stay home and stamp the day away! But....

For today I've created a Christmas card using DRS Designs new Fanfare Square (846L). I think this is a very versatile stamp. If you look at the DRS Designs gallery, you can find it used so many different ways. Today I made it into a frame for DRS Designs little Percy Penguin (122D). I stamped the fanfare square in black ink and then used my square nesties to cut the center out to create the frame. I did the same with squares of red and green that were sized just a little bigger, then layered the fanfare square on top of them. I stamped Percy on a smaller square of white and colored him with Copic Markers. I centered that square on top of a larger red square that I punched all around with a Martha Stewart punch around the page punch, then I just centered the fanfare square frame over the top and popped it up with foam dots.

After stamping Merry Christmas (364B) in black in the lower right hand corner, the white panel was dry embossed with a snowflake folder and then I sponged some red ink all along the edges. I added some green ribbon to tie it all together.

Have a terrific day!!

Hiker Boot Prints

>> Sunday, November 27, 2011

Good morning everyone, hope your having a good day. I’m enjoying being a designer for DRS designs so much. When that package arrives in the mail it is so exciting when I open it and see all the beautiful stamps my mind starts working as to what I can make with them. Then there is that one stamp that I would never buy, and I think what am I suppose to do with this! Well the stamp that I’m sharing with you today is that stamp. Hiker-Boot-Prints 946D. This card turned out to be one of my favorite cards that I made out of this release. I hope you like it as much as I do.

On light gray card stock I randomly stamped Hiker-Boot-Prints946D using sky gray ink. Then I used my snowflake embossing folder to emboss. Polka-Dot-Background 688 was stamped on a strip of paper using Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy. I added green ribbon to both the edges. On another strip of card stock I stamped One-Line-Happy-Thoughts-Greeting 951D and the Hiker-Boot-Prints

Have a great day,

Janett

Peace on Earth

The race is on! Quite honestly, I am not much for the "race", the hustle and bustle of the holidays....especially as I get older! I made this for the free for all challenge over on SCS which was to make a black Christmas/wintery card for black Friday. I used our Tree Line border 981P and the greeting portion of Traveling Afar 501K. I stamped the trees and sentiment in versamark and embossed in white. Some little snowflakes punched and clear rhinestones added, an edge punch and some lace...........

Take time and breathe! That is what I keep telling myself!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
First let me say thanks to everyone who commented on my post last week. And I want to announce the winner! After I ran the random number generator, it came back with #15 Kathy
Vogel!! Congratulations, Kathy! Enjoy your wonderful winter stamps from DRS Designs!

For my frosty winter card today, I'm using a couple of new releases and a couple of favorites. This new Snowman Smiles greeting is such a happy addition to any winter card. For the backing layer, I stamped the new Fanfare Square and turned it on a diagonal. After I stamped the silhouette snowman, I used a dark blue marker to shade his hat and left side.

The snowflake background was stamped w/ the white pigment ink and the white layer behind the snowman was embossed w/ a snowflake folder. I added a little stickles to the snowman's snowflakes and hat band. The finished card is 5.5 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Can you believe it is Thanksgiving?
I hope you are able to enjoy this day with family and friends. Remember to reflect on what you are thankful for!
I am thankful for so many things, the top of the list would be my family and friends, including all my wonderful design teams and members.
Today I have a new release from DRS Designs:
I just love this tree line border (981P). I stamped the trees with Versamark and then embossed them with detail white embossing powder.
For the background I tore white cardstock and stamped the top with the branches stamp.
I added the Happy Holidays stamp in the Design Tag and also embossed that in white.
I added a ribbon botton and some punched branches.
Enjoy your holiday season!!!

BLESSINGS....

>> Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Hello Everyone- This is Chrissy D here. Welcome to the DRS Blog today!!! With Thanksgiving here, there are so MANY blessings to count, so I thought it was fitting to share a card with the Apache Blessing stamp...

My card today uses the wonderful stamps from DRS DESIGNS. Some of my FAVORITE stamps are these Plaid Backgrounds that DRS Designs carries! This one is the Large Original Plaid. First I stamped it in Real Red ink and then in the opposite diagonal in Old Olive. I stamped the Apache Blessing on the Labels 18 Spellbinders Die.

Here are a few more details...

Accessories: Poinsettia Tear Drops, Labels 18 Spellbinders Die Fanciful Flourish Die

This second project I ran through my Big Shot and used my floral Sizzix embossing floral folder.
This is a fun crayon box die. I figure this will be one of my last AUTUMN projects! I need a gift for a helper in a class I am teaching, as a special thank you for her help. I used the Autumn Wording Square and colored the image with Copics B21, YG67, YG17 and E49. I cut around the square and matted it with Chocolate Chip cardstock. Popped it up with Glue dots and wrapped around some Bashful blue striped ribbon and WAH-LAH! All done! :)

I hope you enjoyed my projects today! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!!!

It's Your Birthday!

>> Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Hi Everyone,

I have to say I love my card share today.  Not only is this newly released Penguin Snowball Blast super cute, but it's a card I made with little ole me in mind.  Why?  Well, because I'm one of "those" people with a Christmas birthday.  The 23rd to be exact.  Let's just say, I don't love that.  As a kid my presents all came at once, they were always wrapped in Christmas paper, and my cake many times had poinsettias on it.  Sigh.   However, one year someone sent me a card that said something about, "Your Christmas Birthday" and that made me feel special.  Like not many other people were going to receive a card like that, and that's what this card with the Snow Doubt Birthday greeting reminded me of...

For my papers, I used the Easy Dot Background in red and green ink, and the Interlocking Snow Background stamped in black.

Here is a closer photo of the Glossy Effects I added to the igloo and the sparkle on the snowballs :)

Thanks for visiting today...And DRS Designs has many more stamps now available in the new releases section in the store!

Happy Stampin'!

Joyful Monday!

>> Monday, November 21, 2011

Happy Thanksgiving!!  I hope you all have an extra special holiday this weekend. Next to Christmas, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love the food, fellowship with family and friends and remembering all the blessings I've received. I have lots to be thankful for!!

My card today features a new release from DRS Designs (833L). The oval frame works well with Nesties!! I stamped the frame in Cranberry Crisp and then centered my sentiment (864E) inside the frame. I cut the frame with an oval nestie and used a scalloped oval for the layer. I used an embossing folder for the white background and then applied Smooch Spritz to give it some shimmer.

The star was cut using my Cricut machine. After layering the white star on the cranberry, I added some stickles to make the star shine!

I added some thin metallic ribbon to finish it off.

Until next week,

shelia

An Apache Blessing

>> Saturday, November 19, 2011

Happy Saturday!  I hope that everyone is getting primed for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Personally, it is my favorite and is time for me to reflect on all I am grateful for!
My card today features our new greeting Apache Blessing, and our fun Silhouette Hiker.  I stamped the sentiment and the hiker in noir black.  I used a post it note to mask the sun while I brayered in this order:  from the top, summer sun, cameo coral and pink passion.  I brayered a bit from the bottom in pink passion.  The sentiment was brayered with summer sun and cameo coral.  I removed the mask for the sun and sponged in summer sun.  Both the sentiment and image had black sponged around the edges.  A photo corner, pink and yellow twine and buttons were added for interest.
I love this Apache Blessing and I wish it for you all!

Take care,

Pam

Snow Day! (+ Free Stamps)

>> Friday, November 18, 2011

by Julie Warner - The Write Stuff

Happy Friday!
Today marks my 100th post on the DRS Blog! I may be celebrating, but you could be the lucky winner of a pair of free stamps (unmounted)! Which stamps you ask? How about the fabulous snow background cute Percy Penguin I used today? All you have to do is leave me a comment here telling me your favorite thing about winter. How cool is that?

Looks like these little penguins are stealing the show this week! I think it's great that y'all get to see lots of cute ideas for these little guys. My playful pengies are having fun enjoying the day off from school because it's a Snow Day! Down here in the south, we really do have Snow Days. Earlier this year, we used up over a week of them! You guys in the north are probably laughing, but it's a big deal to us and because we just don't have the equipment to deal with it, everything pretty much shuts down. Even the largest mall in Georgia was closed for 4 days! No shopping?? Say it isn't so!

The little pengies were stamped, colored and and I hand trimmed the top to look like a snow drift. The snowflakes were stamped w/ white on the teal and w/ teal on the turquoise. A few snowflakes were die cut and stacked together. My sentiment was created out of two: Snow Doubt Birthday and the 10 Mile Father's Day. I used a positioner to line up the words and it was die cut w/ a pennant die. While the die was still in place, I sponged on the melon ink. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
